After having a small surgical procedure, I was covering the stitches with bandaids. However, the bandaids left my skin red and raw, even the latex-free ones. Leaving the stitches uncovered meant they caught on my clothing and pulled.
After looking around, I discovered this very nice solution, a skin cover that is virtually invisible, and covers the stitches. The nicest part is that I can bathe with it on without being concerned about getting the area wet.
It took 3 tries for me to get it on smoothly - the hardest part was separating the backing from the sticky side of the film. Because it is so thin, it is a frustrating task.
However, once the stitches were covered, everything else was wonderful.
This pack of 4 makes an excellent purchase if you anticipate a long-term problem. However, the rolls are 24" long, so you might want to check locally if you are only covering a small area for a week or two.

This is my new favorite bandage. If you take the time and clean around the wound carefully to remove any oil using alcohol or something similar, these will stay on for at least week. They are comfortable while in place and hardly noticeable. I've found the only thing that will make them come off before you want is if you have something that is putting a lot of friction on the edge. I highly recommend for kids and adults!

If you haven't tried the nexcare skin cover, you should! This is a roll that you can apply to cuts like you would a bandaid. I find it a lot easier than the tegaderm sheets.
You just apply this directly over the wound and let it heal. It is clear, so you can't really tell you have it on, and the barrier it provides keeps all infection out, leaving little or no scarring at all. I shave my head and managed to cut my head on a cupboard door leaving a 2" gash. I used this stuff and I have no scar at all.
